ARE YOU AFFECTED BY
WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK?
One of
the major fears that I ever had was the fear of what others think of me and
this thought had trapped me very hard. It prevented me from achieving my
highest potential as well as from enjoying and living life to its fullest. I couldn’t
voice my opinions, could not do things that I really wanted to do thinking that
others might find it stupid and my mind ran with images of people talking about
me and laughing at me.
I somehow
knew that I had much more to contribute to this beautiful world; however the
fear of being rejected and ridiculed paralyzed me. Therefore, the real me
always remained cocooned inside. But, last year things began to shift and I realized
that I was not living my life purpose and there is emptiness in me. I gave my
dental career a small break and decided that I will do what I love to do and
take the risk at least once.
I moved
out of my comfort zone, leaving behind all the fear of what others will think
about me. The courage to do that led me to the fulfillment that I craved for so
long and I realized my potential and capabilities and started embracing life.
I’m
sure that I’m not the only one who faced this. We often suffer and fight with
our fears in silence and believe that we are the only one who is going through all
this. Everywhere we find people who are so confident and happy. But, many times
those who appear to be confident and happy are also struggling with their own
fears.
Once we
confront our own fears we help others face theirs. Moreover, when we stop
thinking and caring about what others think, we set ourselves free. The chances
of achieving your dreams and goals are very bright and at the same time we give
others the power and courage to do the same.
One has
to be very honest and vulnerable. Being open about our fears and confronting
them could be one of the greatest and most precious gifts that we can give to
ourselves. The people whom we fear are talking about us and judging us really
do not have that much time. They are busy worrying about what others think
about them!
It is
not necessary that the people looking at you are talking about you or judging
you. They do not always say those awful things that we imagine; it is our mind
that makes us feel that way every time.
The fear
of what others think is like a cage and with time we become used to being in
that cage and eventually forget the outside world. Freedom from this cage is
possible by taking some deliberate actions. Once we start gaining our
confidence and escape from the boundaries of this cage, soon we realize that
life is beautiful, joyous and awesome.
This brings
us to a point where we know who we are; express ourselves fully and reach our
highest potential and this is the greatest and the most wonderful feeling one could
ever know. So, do not fear of what other say and live your life that way you
were born to live.
I have personally experienced this phenomenon of magic by switch words. I do not know how it works... but yes it does
ReplyDeleteA very goods post Naini & well worth a read for anyone, thank you.
ReplyDeleteNice gonna adopt this from now only...
ReplyDeleteI think ive been trying to toe the same line. c Cause it makes perfect sense to me.
ReplyDeleteMakes a lot of sense. Personally i have never believed in confining myself within the boxes created by society...and its liberating. How can the mind possibly grow when its muddled in fear. We need to clean the window to properly see the beauty outside. Nobody traps us like our self. When we give up the inner resistance, we feel free. Ad that's how i manage to bed in peace.
ReplyDeleteBy standing by what i believe. And accepting the fact that tomorrow they might change...because that is what we are all about...EVOLVING. :-)
Thanks for sharing, being open and honest about our fears helps us release so we can move forward. Love your site!
